Outdoor Weddings

This time last year the word “Lockdown” didn’t exist in most of our vocabularies. We certainly didn’t think a year on we’d still be under restrictions the likes of which we’d never imagined.

So what has Lockdown been like for us ? – we’ve loved, we’ve laughed, we’ve panicked, we’ve cried, we’ve found new friends & relationships and let some others go. We‘ve probably experienced every single emotion possible. I know I have, but most of all we’ve survived!

And now we’re following the Government’s Road Map to the end of restrictions. As with any journey there may be a few bumps in the road, some diversions and unplanned stops along the way. The most important thing is that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Once again we can start to plan, or replan our celebrations.

The Events Industry is finally able to breathe again and get back to doing what it does best.

One thing I have noticed is that popular venues are being booked up very quickly. Many couples are worrying that they will have to wait years before they can celebrate their big day or perhaps compromise with a day that doesn’t quite meet the expectations they had hoped for.

Some couples have held a very small Lockdown Wedding already and are now looking for the opportunity, and venue, to celebrate their union, in style, surrounded by those close to them.

All is not lost, during Lockdown you may have fallen in love – not just with the person you plan on sharing the rest of your life with but with the great outdoors. For many this has been your “happy place” and your escape, with long walks, staycations and the discovery of parts of your local communities that you didn’t even know existed.

Why not embrace what nature has to offer and look at booking an outdoor wedding?

The possibilities are endless; from a beautiful woodland area, an atmospheric old building or an open space or gardens belonging to your family or friends. All of these can be made into the perfect wedding venue with the addition of romantic Marquees, a Tipi Village, Hog Roasts, Pizza Ovens, Pop Up Cocktail Bars and Pubs, Vintage Ice Cream carts…. the list is endless. It really is a blank canvas ready to be painted with ideas for your special day.

Using a Celebrant for your Ceremony will remove so many restrictions around both venues and timings. You will have to sort out the legal part of your wedding separately with your local registry office but this is a small cost and can be arranged very simply at a time as close to your big ceremony day as possible.

There is a lot to be considered and this handy guide from Sainsbury’s Bank is a great starting point

We’ve been ‘locked down’ for way to long – now is the time to think outside the box, look to the future and get planning the day of your dreams.
