Naming Ceremonies
Welcoming a new member into your family is a very special occasion and one to be celebrated.
Many families are moving away from the traditional christening service and instead choose a Naming Ceremony to share their joy with family and friends as they officially name their child in front of loved ones.
Without the restriction of legalities, a naming ceremony is unique and special to you as a family. I can include some of the traditional aspects you might want, including parents and selected adults stating their commitment to the child and their hopes, dreams and wishes for the life ahead.
Each Naming Ceremony will be written especially for you. My priority is to ensure you feel familiar with me prior to the day itself; so that you see me as a friend, rather than just someone providing a service. I do this by building a relationship with you via numerous meetings and contact before the ceremony, getting to know who you are as a family.
What many love most about having a celebrant oversee their Naming Ceremony is that it can take place anywhere. Unlike a registrar, or someone conducting a religious ceremony, with a Celebrant you can hold your ceremony on a beach, in a garden, in your home... wherever feels special to you and your family.
Naming ceremonies have no age limit and can take place to celebrate the birth of a new baby, welcome adopted or stepchildren into a family or to celebrate all of your children as your family is complete.
Each ceremony is unique but will typically include parents stating their love and commitment to their child and acknowledging the role family and friends will have in their child’s future.
Symbolic elements such as Tree Planting, Naming Ribbons or Sand Ceremonies can be woven into your day and I am here to help you with your ideas or use my experience to help you choose those that are relevant to you.
